Meet Our Staff
Lorraine has been a veterinary
assistant for the Cat & Bird Clinic since
1993. She formerly worked as a
veterinary assistant at Santa Barbara Pet
Hospital for 10  years before joining the
Cat & Bird Clinic. Her area of expertise
emphasizes feline medical care and
behavior.
This is our long time resident Jay Jay getting a
little love and attention from Lorraine. Don't be
fooled by the annoyed look he has on his face
though! Lorraine is his favorite person and he
follows her around at the clinic all day long
looking for extra special treatment.
Connie has been a veterinary
assistant for the Cat & Bird
Clinic since 1995. Prior to
joining us, she worked in a
small animal practice in London,
England. Her current interests
and emphasis is in avian
medicine.

Connie and Chuck pose for the
camera, only Chuck forgot to look! But
he is just like a teddy bear -- very
sweet and cuddly. He never stops
purring even when getting his daily
treatments.
Jody has been the front office receptionist and
office manager since 2000. She graduated with an
Associates degree in exotic animal training from
the Exotic Animal Training & Management program
at Moorpark College in 1996 and has studied and
focused her training background in pet bird
behavior ever since. Recently she received her
certification as a parrot behavior consultant
through the International Association of Animal
Behavior Consultants.

Many of you may have already met Jody's pet duck
"Ivy". She comes to the clinic every afternoon with
Jody. Since daylight savings time is over, she needs to
stay protected from backyard predators until Jody can
get her in her night quarters after work. Ivy is a happy
little duck and you will often find her looking out the
door windows of our lobby and greeting customers.
Kelley has been with the Cat &
Bird Clinic since July 2004 as the
front office receptionist. She is
invaluable to the front desk
operations. Previously she
worked at the Montecito Beauty
salon for 9 years and has also
worked as a model.
Penny joined our team as a receptionist in 2002.
She had been a dental receptionist for many years
prior to working with us.  Her positive personality
and caring nature are an invaluable asset to the
practice.
Kelsey began as a volunteer at the clinic when
she was only 10 years old in 1999.  She has
worked her way up to veterinary assistant and
receptionist and is currently a full time student at
SBCC pursuing her pre-veterinary major.
Vanessa joined the Cat & Bird
Clinic in 2002. She is pursuing her
degree in Biology and plans to be a
High School Science teacher after
finishing her teaching credential.
Like Kelsey, when she is not in
school she is usually here helping
run the front desk or assisting the
doctor. She formerly served as
supervisor and volunteer
coordinator at the SB Wildlife
Care Network where her area of
expertise involved medical
support and rehabilitation of various
local wildlife.
Cathy has been with the Cat & Bird Clinic since
January 2001. She is the "behind the scenes" vehicle
who keeps us organized by keeping our work areas
well maintained. She also has a wealth of knowledge
about parrot care and behavior from years of caring for
her own pet parrots. You can often find her answering
questions for clients who are new to bird care. She is
an excellent resource!
Well it looks like everyone likes to model around here! This is
"Alkie", another resident who was recently given a photo shoot for
the "American Girl" doll catalog. He certainly is a "doll" himself.
